There is something mysterious about them - we sense there’s a hidden promise inside the pain, that if we get to the core of it, something fundamentally important will be revealed to us.

ADDICTION is Astro Butterfly School's translation of Carl Jung’s approach to addiction, transcendence, and individuation into astrological language.

In astrology literature, addiction is most often associated with Neptune or the 12th house.

While Neptune is one of the archetypes we’ll explore to introduce the 3 distinct “addictive pathways,” our approach is to work with astrology as a symbolic map - a set of metaphors, archetypes, and guides - rather than as a list of fixed aspects or placements.

We believe there's no 'one single' planet, aspect, or placement that precisely points to addiction - and that addiction is shaped more by environment and nurture than by pure astrological predisposition.

That being said, when we map universal addictive pathways onto astrological archetypes, we can more easily recognize distinct expressions of addiction and what this reveals about our deeper motivations, longings, and unmet needs.

The "Addiction" course is not limited in scope to clinical addiction - it also includes subtler compulsions such as overeating, tech or screen dependency, workaholism, co-dependency, or even relentless self-improvement.

Addiction is much more than a behavior or diagnosis - it’s a message from the psyche, from deep within us. An unconscious search for transcendence - a spiritual hunger seeking wholeness in disguise.

Transform Your Life With Astrology

The "Addiction" course is the first module of "Transform Your Life With Astrology", which is one of the Astro Butterfly School's 3 tracks within the 2.5-year Diploma path.

This is the psychological, personal-growth oriented track; the other two, "Natal Chart Mastery" (2026-2027) and "Astrology Through Time" are focused on chart mastery, cycles and astrology techniques.

This program "Transform Your Life With Astrology" is for people who use astrology for self-understanding and growth. This is NOT a technical or formula-based program - it uses little astrological jargon, and instead approaches astrology archetypally to illuminate patterns and invite a shift in perception.

"Transform Your Life With Astrology" consists of 4 different courses: (1) Addiction, (2) Shadow, (3) Purpose and (4) Service.

Each course explores a key stage of psychological development through a Jungian and archetypal lens, guiding you through the natural progression of individuation:

ADDICTION

First, our addictions or addictive tendencies inform us of the deeper unmet needs and unintegrated drives. These compensatory patterns are not random; they encode our deepest triggers and wiring as gateways to self-awareness and growth.

SHADOW

Next comes the Shadow - which is an umbrella term for doing the actual work of meeting, understanding and integrating the parts of ourselves we normally avoid, repress or deny.

PURPOSE

Just like pieces of a puzzle, Purpose emerges gradually, as revealed through the ongoing process of integrating our experiences with addiction and shadow.

SERVICE

Service is the final step - where we embody our purpose and share our unique gifts with the world. This is the culmination of the individuation process.

"Addiction" consists of 3 different modules, each exploring one dimension of the addictive pattern throughout 3 weeks:

WEEK 1 (November 10th -16th) - The Upper Path "URANUS"
WEEK 2 (November 17th - 23rd) - The Downward Path "PLUTO"
WEEK 3 (November 24th - 30th) - The Outer Path "NEPTUNE"

Each week, you get access to theory lessons, live calls, reflections, and exercises. All these components are designed to help you move from intellectual understanding to direct, embodied insight.
